We are four small communities in Campbell County (Artas, Herreid, Pollock and Mound City) located in North Central South Dakota. A place to Thrive!
Though very rural, our quality of life is modern and authentic. We have our own independent telecommunication company and access to the latest telecommunications technology. Campbell County was one of the first counties in the United States to have high-speed internet. Our county offers authentic clean living with independently owned pharmacies, grocery stores and local organic food providers (we do not have large retailers). Our school provides individualized teacher to student attention, we have modern medical facilities, churches, nearby golf courses, the best hunting and fishing in the region plus many other advantages.
Along with quality of life enhancements our infrastructures are advantageous to business growth. Campbell County boasts an excellent highway system, U.S. Highway 83 corridor runs through the middle of our county connecting Northern and Southerly points of the compass with South Dakota Route 10 completing our Western and Easterly connections. We possess a very accessible airport, available building space, no corporate or individual income taxes; we offer property land tax incentives and no county property zoning restrictions! Most of the county has three phase electric power available with redundancy (MDU and CamWal), high speed large volume fiber data lines (Valley Telecommunications) and water lines (WEB Water) or aquifers available to expand upon amongst our natural resources.
Wind is often overlooked as a natural resource but not in Campbell County. In the western part of our county we have 55 wind towers which make up the Campbell County Wind Farm owned by Consolidated Edison. Our agricultural resources are among the best in the region, making Campbell County a Place to Thrive!
